“Closer” Day 13 – Sharing your testimony can save a soul
Today’s Reading: Mark 5:1-20
Reflection Verses: 18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
Throughout the life of Jesus, the number of people following Jesus grew at a fast pace. There were some that were called to leave everything and walk with Jesus. Others were the recipients of Jesus’ miracles and went back to their daily routine and told everyone there the good news about what Jesus had done. Many couldn’t contain the excitement. As a result, Jesus popularity continued to increase.
One of the most selfish things we can do as Christians is choose NOT to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Having been given access to approach God’s throne of grace through the blood of Jesus, it is our duty to freely tell others. And we should be excited about sharing it.
I admit, sharing the gospel (good news) can be uncomfortable. One easy way to open up that conversation is to tell people about what Jesus has done for you. What would happen in your workplace, family, and community if you began to freely share “how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you?” There is no doubt that people would amazed.
Do you care about where your friends, co-workers, and neighbors spend eternity? Your testimony can be instrumental to their salvation. It can open the door for you to share the good news about Jesus taking our place on the cross and paying the price for our sins so that we can experience eternal life.
- Are you uncomfortable sharing the gospel?
- What is something amazing God has done for you?
- Who is one person you can share this testimony with today?
Prayer: Lord, help me not to be afraid to share my testimony with others. Please open a door this week and give me the courage to share my testimony and your gospel with at least one person. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
